Agricultural lands account for 45% of the ground surface area of Belgium. Forests account for 20% of the territory and residential lands for 9%.

1.   Totaal landbouwgronden

  • - 1950 & 1970: Landbouw- en bostellingen 1950 en 1970 (Nationaal Instituut voor de Statistiek).
  • - 1955-1969 & 1971-1979:  Eurostat ZPA1.
  • - 1980-heden: Landbouwtelling Statbel

2.   Totaal bos

  • - 1950, 1970: Landbouw- en bostellingen 1950 en 1970 (Nationaal Instituut voor de Statistiek).
  • - 1980, 1985, 2001-2004, 2011: Schatting gebaseerd op trend van kadastrale data op de recentere bosinventarissen (1984, 1997, 2005 ...).
  • - 1990, 2000, 2005: Bosinventarissen 2007.
  • - 1980, 1985, 1990, 2000, 2005: Inclusief percelen die als "landbouwgronden" in het kadaster worden vermeld.
  • - 2012-heden: zelfde waarden als 2011 werden genomen als schatting.

3.   Bebouwde gronden en aanverwante terreinen

  • - Kadaster (FOD Financiën).
  • - Rubriek 3.7 bevat ook enkele delen van de grote waterlopen.

7.   Water

  • - 1955-1976: Eurostat ZPA1.
  • - 1985, 2001-heden: nowcasting (extrapolation).
  • - 1990, 2000: Bron EEA-CORINE.
  • - 1995: Geïntrapoleerd.

8.   Zeegebied in de Noordzee

  • - Vanaf 2015: MUMM-BMM-UGMM

9.   Overige terreinen

  • - Restcategorie berekend door landoppervlakte (rubriek 10) te verminderen met alle overige rubrieken.

10.  Landoppervlakte

  • - 1955-1979, 1981-1984: Eurostat ZPA1.
  • - 1950, 1980, 1985-heden: Kadaster (FOD Financiën).
