Inland water transport in the third quarter of 2021

In the third quarter of 2021, inland waterway vessels have transported 41.6 million tonnes of goods on Belgian inland waterways. This is a decrease of 1.4% compared to the previous quarter, but an increase of 8.8% compared to the third quarter of 2020. The container transport by inland waterway vessels amounted to 5.8 million tonnes, i.e. a decrease of 2.2% compared to the previous quarter, but an increase of 7.4% on an annual basis.

These figures relate to the inland navigation of all ships on Belgian inland waterways, including those from abroad.
