Feto-infant mortality

Population
Feto-infant mortality

The number of stillborn children has decreased by more than a factor 4 (4.24) compared to 1958, the first year for which figures are available. In 2014, there were 596 stillborn children, compared to 2,528 in 1958. The decrease is more significant for boys (factor of 4.55) than for girls (factor of 3.91).
The infant mortality has fallen even more sharply between 1958 and 2014 than the number of stillborn children. In 1958, 4,858 children under one year of age died, compared to 423 in 2014. That is a decrease by a factor 11. The decrease for girls (11.65 times less in 2014 than in 1958) was just a little larger than the one for boys (11.36 times less).
