The index of seasonally adjusted wages and salaries in industry amounted to 133.87 in the fourth quarter of 2023. This represents an increase of 5.5% compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.

The index of seasonally adjusted wages and salaries in construction amounted to 144.33 in the fourth quarter of 2023. This represents an increase of 8.4% compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.

The index of seasonally adjusted wages and salaries in trade and repair amounted to 132.72 in the fourth quarter of 2023. This represents an increase of 7.7% compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.

The index of seasonally adjusted wages and salaries in services amounted to 161.87 in the fourth quarter of 2023. This represents an increase of 9.2% compared to the fourth quarter of 2022.

The figures for the fourth of quarter 2023 are provisional.

Purpose and brief description

Wages and salaries are defined as 'the total remuneration, in cash or in kind, payable to all persons counted on the payroll (including homeworkers), in return for work done during the accounting period' regardless of whether it is paid on the basis of working time, output or piecework and whether it is paid regularly or not.
