    Key figures

On the occasion of European Statistics Day on 20 October, Statbel publishes the “Key Figures” every year: a publication in the form of graphs, maps and infographics.

The Key Figures give the general public an overview of the wealth of statistical material Statbel has on hand and what is happening in Belgium, in the regions and in the municipalities. They contain a complete statistical overview of Belgium, with the latest figures in a variety of topics. How many inhabitants does Belgium have? What is the unemployment rate? What are the agricultural activities? What is inflation? And what about mobility? They cover all aspects on which Statbel collects and publishes figures.

In current times, the importance of quality statistics is greater than ever. Informed decisions must be based on high-quality, objective data, public statistics and scientific research. Statbel data on health, demography, economy, labour market, social indicators such as the risk of poverty or the consumption behaviour of Belgians, play an essential role to make informed political decisions and will remain crucial in the years to come.

    Key figures on agriculture

Every year, on the occasion of the Libramont Agricultural Fair, Statbel publishes the Key Figures on Agriculture (End of July).

This publication provides an overview of the current situation and most recent evolutions in agriculture in the broad sense. They contain information on farms, crops, livestock farming, as well as the economic aspects of agriculture, including fishing and forestry, with all its physical, demographic and economic aspects. Various other aspects related to agriculture are also covered, such as expenditure on food, indicators on profitability or the economic significance of agriculture and food industry.
