For all service sectors combined, as they are processed in this statistic, “HTNXK Total services excluding NACE code K (Financial and insurance activities)”, the volume of sales decreased by 0.5% in November 2024 compared to November 2023.
The decrease in sales volume for all service sectors combined is due to lower sales volume in the NACE sections “H Transportation and storage” (-4.6%) and “Administrative and support service activities” (-0.9%). In all other NACE sections monitored in this statistic, the volume of sales is still rising. The sharpest increases were registered in “L Real estate activities” (+7.1%) and “J Information and communication” (+3.1%).

Statbel publishes these indices based on REGULATION (EU) 2019/2152 OF THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT AND OF THE COUNCIL of 27 November 2019 on European business statistics as regards services. According to that regulation, the indices are established on a monthly basis from reference year 2021 onwards. For the reference years 2000 to 2023, Statbel published a statistic produced on a quarterly basis.
Monthly indices are expressed with reference year 2021=100. In addition to gross indices, Statbel publishes indices adjusted for seasonal and working day variations.
