About Statbel
Statbel’s analyses provide more background to statistics

Statbel, the Belgian statistical office, collects, produces and publishes statistics about the Belgian society and economy. These statistics are coordinated by experts and statisticians, by methodologists and quality controllers. In order to give you a better understanding of our results and calculation methods, Statbel publishes analyses on a regular basis.

They are, on the one hand, statistical surveys about the figures published: what conclusions can we make? What evolutions do the figures follow? What is the history behind these results? What are the possibilities of this data source? Analyses include structural business statistics, the use of big data and individual poverty indicators based on the SILC survey.

On the other hand, they give an extensive insight in the methodology behind some calculation methods. Analyses include among others web scraping or scanner data from the consumer price index and the reforms of the Labour Force Survey.
