Slight increase in inland water transport

In 2019, inland waterway vessels have transported around 156 million tonnes of goods on Belgian inland waterways.
That is almost 4 million tonnes more than the year before. So the trend is slightly upward. The container transport by inland waterway vessels is around 21 million tonnes.
The figures for 2018 and 2019 are calculated according to a whole new method for the inland navigation of all ships on Belgian inland waterways, including those from abroad.
