The quantity of landed fish increases again in December 2019

In December, there was a new increase of the quantity of fish landed by Belgian vessels and sold in Belgian ports to 1,261 tonnes.

Landings of cuttlefish, ray and herring were remarkably higher, with 224, 132 and 14 tonnes respectively, accounting for 18 %, 11 % and 1 % of the quantity of fish landed and sold. Plaice still ranks first with 21 %, with a quantity of 265 tonnes.

Sole, which was worth €14.03 per kg in December, accounts for 43.4 % of the total value, and plaice for 10.7 %.  Cuttlefish accounts this month for 15.3 % of the value, mainly due to increased landings.

Halibut, turbot and sole registered top prices in December with respectively €16.3, €15.2 and €14.03 per kg.
