Olympic Games: 32,600 Belgians worked in the sports industry in 2023

In 2023, 32,600 people worked in a sports-related industry or occupation in Belgium^[1].
This is shown by data from Statbel and Eurostat. For the entire European Union (27 countries), there were 1,547,300 people employed in the sports industry.  It represented 0.65% of total employment for Belgium and 0.75% for the EU.

The five EU countries with the highest employment in the sports industry are:

1. Sweden 1.33%
2. Denmark 1.25%
3. Spain 1.16%
4. Finland 1.14%
5. France 1.01%
