More than 7,000 Belgians celebrate their birthday every 4 years

On 1 January 2023, there were in the total population in Belgium 7,220 people having their birthday on 29 February.

This is 0.062% of the Belgian population.

Proportionally, they are more numerous in the province of Namur with 0.069% of the population, followed by the provinces of Hainaut (0.066%) and Liège (0.064%).

The province with the lowest proportion of people born on 29 February is Limburg, with 0.053% of the population.

Apart from 29 February, the lowest numbers of birthdays are on public holidays: 0.224% of the total population or 26,250 people were born on 25 December, which is as many as on 1 November. 26,687 people were born on 11 November, i.e. 0.228% of the population, and 27,853 people on 21 July, i.e. 0.238%.
