The largest number of employees can be found in wholesale and retail trade

In 2021, the sector of manufacturing and market services[1] included: 843,146 enterprises, 206,057 of which had at least one employee. These enterprises employed a total of 3,014,577 employees.

In 2021, 65,482 enterprises were created in manufacturing and market services, 8,574 of which had at least one employee.

The largest number of employees is found in wholesale and retail trade, closely followed by manufacturing and administration

Wholesale and retail trade had 530,054 employees in 2021. It was followed by human health and social work activities with 502,032 employees, manufacturing with 474,004 employees, administrative and support service activities with 432,032 employees and construction with 216,400 employees.

Wholesale and retail trade had the highest number of enterprises with at least one employee

With a share of 24.7%, wholesale and retail trade is the best represented among enterprises with at least one employee. It is followed by construction (14.1%) and accommodation and food service activities (11.8%).

The highest proportion of one-person enterprises in the liberal professions sector

The share of one-person enterprises (with no employee) is the largest in the sector of professional, scientific and technical activities: 25.0%. It is followed by construction (15.7%) and wholesale and retail trade (14.6%).
