The turnover of enterprises in Belgium, excluding agricultural and financial sectors, amounted to 267.6 billion euros during the second quarter of 2020, i.e. a 19.3% decrease compared to the same period the year before.
In the second quarter of 2020, the lockdown measures due to the Covid-19 crisis had a negative impact on turnover in all economic sectors. The most important decreases of turnover (20% or more) were registered in manufacturing, in trade, for accommodation and food service activities, in arts, entertainment and recreation and for other service activities. There is only one important economic sector that showed a limited decrease of turnover (3%), that is information and communication. In all other economic sectors turnover fell between 5% and 18%.
The results for the second quarter of 2020 are provisional. These results can be revised when additional data becomes available.
