Agriculture: producer prices slightly down compared to March 2020

As in the past three years, the general agricultural index rises between February and March. In 2021, the index increased by 11.3%, while the increase in 2020 was limited to 4.5%.

However, in just one month, the price index of horticultural products rose by 15.0%, mainly due to the price increase of leek (+20.4%) and chicory (+23.0%).

As far as the prices of animal products concern, the 29.4% price increase of pork had a significant impact on the general agricultural index. Also noteworthy were the index increases of 18.0% for eggs and 4.0% for bovine animals.

Despite these increases, the level of producer prices remains slightly below that of a year earlier (-0.9% between March 2021 and March 2020).
