937 tonnes of fish landed in March 2025

In March 2025, 937 tonnes of fish were landed by Belgian vessels and sold in Belgian ports. This is a 17% decrease compared to landings in March 2024.

Despite a 16% decrease compared to the previous year, cuttlefish was the most landed species in March 2025. With 274 tonnes, it accounts for 29% of all landings.

However, in terms of value, sole maintains its domination. It generated a value of €3.2 million with a price of €15.1/kg, i.e. 50% of the total value of landings. Sole is followed by cuttlefish with €1.5 million and 23% of the total value, then monkfish with €481,000 and 7%.

Landings of shrimps have dropped by 40% to 1 tonne in March 2025 compared to the previous year. This decrease in supply led to a rise in prices, which rose to €20.7/kg. In March, shrimps became the most expensive product, ahead of turbot (€18.9/kg) and halibut (€15.7/kg).
