8,958 new VAT-registered enterprises in February

The number of VAT-registered enterprises increased by 4,051 units in February 2021 compared to January 2021.

That is 8,958 new enterprises (first registrations), 1,113 re-registrations and 6,020 de-registrations. The 3 main sectors contributing to the increase this month are construction (+842 enterprises), scientific and technical activaities (+792 enterprises) and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+750 enterprises). The accommodation and food service activities sector shows a negative balance of 36 units due to the de-registration of 429 units and a low number of births or re-registrations.

First registrations

In February 2021, first registrations for all sectors combined are up by 6.6% compared to February 2020. That is 553 more births than last year in the same period.

Re-registrations

The number of re-registrations, all sectors combined, is almost perfectly stable (+0.1%) compared to last year, or 1 additional enterprise.

De-registrations

In February 2021, the number of de-registrations is 18.2% higher than in February 2020, or 926 units.

Evolution of the population of VAT-registered units

Despite the disturbances related to the health crisis, results for February 2021 remain positive in terms of growth of the population of VAT-registered units over a year. We see a 3.8% increase of the whole VAT-registered population, i.e. 38,339 more units than in February 2020.
