In April 2025, 12,897 new enterprises were created, 1,806 enterprises were re-registered and 11,487 were de-registered.
The total number of VAT-registered enterprises increased by 3,216 or 0.3% compared to March 2025.
First registrations
In April 2025 first registrations[1] increased by 4.7% in all sectors to April 2024. That is 575 more births than last year.
Re-registrations
As for re-registrations, all sectors combined, we observe a increase by 13.3% compared to last year. This is an increase of 212 companies.
De-registrations
In April 2025, the number of de-registrations is 28.8% higher compared to April 2024. This is an increase of 2,567 units.
Evolution of the population of VAT-registered units
In April 2025 we observe a 1.5% growth of the VAT-registered population over a year. The total population of VAT-registered units increased by 17,790 units compared to April 2024 and amounts to 1,198,128 enterprises.
[1] Since March 2025, newly registered VAT-liable companies receive an activity code based on NACE 2025. While most of these codes can be converted to NACE 2008, some cannot. As a result, the number of companies with an unknown activity code has increased.
