General terms of use

A modern society needs figures to frame complex issues and dilemmas and provide some sort of support. In line with its public service mission and in order to ensure that as many people as possible can re-use its data, Statbel has adopted the Creative Commons CC BY 4.0 licence. This licence allows us to create an environment where users can freely use, modify and redistribute the information we provide, while ensuring that our contribution is recognised.

This licence determines the general framework for the re-use of data over which Statbel has a property right and applies without prejudice to the rights of third parties.

  • 1. Unless otherwise stated, the information and data on this website are the property of the Directorate-General Statistics – Statistics Belgium of the FPS Economy, SMEs, Self-employed and Energy (hereinafter “Statbel”). Without prejudice to any provisions to the contrary, these rights apply without limitation in time or space.
  • 2. These terms and conditions and the rights they confer apply solely to Statbel data. In the case of data from third-party producers, users should refer to the terms of use laid down by these producers.
  • 3. Own-initiative translations must state that they are free translations and indicate the original source.

Conditions for data re-use

  • 4. Under this licence, you have the following rights:
    • 4.1. Sharing: Copying, distributing and communicating the material by any means and in any format for any use, including commercial use.
    • 4.2. Adapting: Remixing, transforming and creating from the material for any use, including commercial use.
  • 5. Subject to the following conditions:
    • 5.1. Attribution of source: You must credit the data (« Source: Statbel » or « Source Statbel: (Directorate-General Statistics – Statistics Belgium) »), include a link to the licence and indicate whether any changes have been made to the data.
    • 5.2. You must provide this information by all reasonable means, but without suggesting that Statbel supports you or the way in which you have used its data.

Duration of the licence and applicable law

  • 6. The licence is valid for an indefinite period and terminates automatically in the event of non-compliance with the conditions set out herein.
  • 7. This licence is subject to Belgian law.
