The harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) is designed for a correct comparison of the inflation rates of the Member States of the European Union.
Eurostat calculates the HICP for the Euro area (as well as for the European Union as a whole) from the Member States’ harmonised indices.
Eurostat will publish the harmonised index of consumer prices for the Euro area for April 2012 on 16th May 2012.
The Belgian harmonised index of consumer prices (HICP) amounts to 118.51 points in April 2012 (reference year 2005 = 100), against 118.38 points last month. This means an increase by 0.13 points.
The annual inflation rate amounts to 2.9 %.
