June 2019: 1,014 bankruptcies

In June 2019, 1,014 businesses in Belgium went bankrupt.

The bankruptcies resulted in a loss of 2,008 jobs: 1,038 full-time employees, 523 part-time employees and 447 salaried employers lost their jobs.

The number of bankruptcies in the last six months amounts to 5,602, a rise of 13.3% compared to the same period last year.

In the last six months, compared to the same period last year, the number of failed businesses in the industry sector rose by 20.2% In construction this number rose by 9.4%; whereas in commerce there was a rise by 5.2%. The hotel and catering industry rose by 14.8%. The number of bankruptcies in transportation and other services rose by 19.5%.

At regional level and in the same period there was a rise by 15.0% in the Flemish Region, a rise of 17.5% in the Walloon Region and a rise of 7.2% in the Brussels-Capital Region.
