June 2018: 852 bankruptcies

In June 2018, 852 businesses in Belgium went bankrupt.

The bankruptcies resulted in a loss of 1,533 jobs: 826 full-time employees, 412 part-time employees and 295 salaried employers lost their jobs.

The number of bankruptcies in the last six months amounts to 4,946, a decrease of 5.9% compared to the same period last year.

In the last six months, compared to the same period last year, the number of failed businesses in the industry sector dropped by 5.3% In construction this number rose by 5.0%; whereas in commerce there was a decrease by 8.4%. The hotel and catering industry dropped by 16.4%. The number of bankruptcies in transportation and other services dropped by 2.6%.

At regional level and in the same period there was a decrease by 11.8% in the Flemish Region, a decrease of 14.7% in the Walloon Region and a rise of 15.5% in the Brussels-Capital Region.
