Internet of Things: more connected devices as practical help in the house

24 % of Belgians use at least one Internet-connected device or system. This is what emerged from the ICT survey among households conducted by Statbel, the Belgian statistical office, during the first half of 2020. A number of new questions were also asked about the Internet of Things (IoT).

The most common concrete household applications are for home security, such as an alarm system, a security camera or a smoke detector (12 %), for energy management, such as a smart thermostat, consumption meter or lighting (10 %), or are household appliances (refrigerators, ovens, ...) (9 %).
