Inland water transport in the third quarter of 2020

In the third quarter of 2020, inland waterway vessels have transported more than 38 million tonnes of goods on Belgian inland waterways. This is a decrease of 1.1 % compared to the previous quarter and of 0.3 % compared to the third quarter of 2019. The container transport by inland waterway vessels amounted to 5.3 million tonnes, i.e. an increase of 8.3 % on a quarterly basis and almost a status quo on an annual basis.

These figures relate to the inland navigation of all ships on Belgian inland waterways, including those from abroad.
