Inland water transport in the second quarter of 2018

In the second quarter of 2018, inland waterway vessels have transported more than 52 million tonnes of goods on Belgian inland waterways. This is an increase of 1.8 % compared to the previous quarter and of 5.6 % compared to the second quarter of 2017. The container transport by inland waterway vessels amounted to 9.3 million tonnes, i.e. a decrease of almost 3 % on a quarterly basis but an increase of 2.25 % on an annual basis.

These figures relate to the inland navigation of all ships on Belgian inland waterways, including those from abroad.
