Inland water transport in the fourth quarter of 2018

In the fourth quarter of 2018, inland waterway vessels have transported more than 50 million tonnes of goods on Belgian inland waterways. This is a decrease of 1.4 % compared to the fourth quarter of 2017 and an increase of 0.16 % compared to the previous quarter. The container transport by inland waterway vessels amounted to 7.9 million tonnes, i.e. a decrease of 5.1 % compared to the previous quarter and a decrease of 15.5% compared to the fourth quarter of 2017.

These figures relate to the inland navigation of all ships on Belgian inland waterways, including those from abroad.
