Inland water transport in the first quarter of 2018

In the first quarter of 2018, inland waterway vessels have transported 52 million tonnes of goods on Belgian inland waterways. This is an increase of 1.3 % compared to the previous quarter and of 3.6 % compared to the first quarter of 2017. The container transport by inland waterway vessels amounted to 9.6 million tonnes, i.e. an increase of 2.6 % on a quarterly basis and of 5.7 % on an annual basis.

These figures relate to the inland navigation of all ships on Belgian inland waterways, including those from abroad.
