The seasonally adjusted index of hours worked in industry amounted to 98.11 in fourth quarter 2020. This represents a decrease of 4.6% compared to fourth quarter 2019.
The seasonally adjusted index of hours worked in construction amounted to 99.92 in fourth quarter 2020. This represents a decrease of 4.8% compared to fourth quarter 2019.
The seasonally adjusted index of hours worked in trade and repair amounted to 95.15 in fourth quarter 2020. This represents a decrease of 7.6% compared to fourth quarter 2019.
The seasonally adjusted index of hours worked in services amounted to 103.38 in fourth quarter 2020. This represents a decrease of 11.2% compared to fourth quarter 2019.
The second lockdown, imposed in November for a period of six weeks, contributed to the slowdown of the economic activity in the observed sectors. The section I “Accommodation and food service activities” is the most affected with a 68.4 % decrease, dropping from a seasonally adjusted index of the number of hours worked of 119.6 in the fourth quarter of 2019 to only 37.7 during the fourth quarter of 2020.
The figures for fourth quarter 2020 are provisional.
What changes from July 2018
From July 2018 (reference quarter=first quarter 2018), these indices will be published with reference year 2015 = 100.
