Increase in retail sales in August

As is the case since the end of the lockdown caused by the Covid-19 crisis, the volume of sales in retail trade, excluding fuels, is still on the rise in August compared to the same month last year. The annual increase amounts to 9.9 %.

In the same period, the sharpest increases were registered for “Retail sale via mail order houses or via Internet”, “Audio and video equipment, hardware, paints and glass, electrical household appliances, etc.” and “Textiles, clothing and footwear”, i.e. increases of 48,9%, 23.9% and 21.6%, respectively.

The sharpest decrease was registered for “Automotive fuel in specialised stores”, i.e. a fall of 9.2% compared to August 2019.

These indices are expressed with reference year 2015=100.
