High quantity of codfish and shrimps in October

In October 2019, the quantity of fish landed by Belgian vessels and sold in Belgian ports has increased to 1,244 tonnes.

Landings of codfish and shrimps were remarkably high, with 108 and 86 tonnes respectively, accounting for 9 % and 7 % of the quantity of fish landed and sold. Plaice still ranks first with 33 %, with a quantity of 417 tonnes.

Sole, which was worth € 14.18 per kilo in October, accounts for 25 % of the total value, and plaice for 24 %.  Codfish accounts for 7 % of the value, mainly due to increased landings.  The average price was barely € 3.16 per kilo.
