9,637 births in August

In August 2020, there were 9,637 births in Belgium: 5,387 in Flanders, 2,918 in Wallonia and 1,332 in the Brussels-Capital Region.

Over the first 8 months of the year, 77,272 babies were born in Belgium. This is a 0.5 % increase compared to the same period last year. At regional level, we observe an increase of 2 % in Flanders and a decrease of 0.8 % in Wallonia and 2.7 % in the Brussels-Capital Region.

These figures come from the provisional monthly results of the statistics on births calculated based on Demobel, Statbel’s demographic database (source: National Register).
