8,293 new enterprises and 7,185 de-registrations in March

The number of VAT-registered enterprises increased by 2,103 units in March 2021 compared to February 2021.

That is 8,293 new enterprises (first registrations), 995 re-registrations and 7,185 de-registrations. The 3 main sectors contributing to the increase this month are construction (+426 enterprises), retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles (+398 enterprises) and scientific and technical activities (+321 enterprises). The accommodation and food service activities sector shows a negative balance of 64 units due to the de-registration of 466 units and a low number of births or re-registrations.

First registrations

In March 2021, first registrations for all sectors combined are up by 35.6% compared to March 2020. That is 2,175 more births than last year in the same period.

Re-registrations

As for re-registrations, all sectors combined, we observe a 27.7% increase compared to last year, or 216 additional enterprises.

De-registrations

In March 2021, the number of de-registrations is 29.8% higher than in March 2020, or 1,649 units.

Evolution of the population of VAT-registered units

Despite the disturbances related to the health crisis, results for March 2021 remain positive in terms of growth of the population of VAT-registered units over a year. We see a 3.8% increase of the whole VAT-registered population, i.e. 39,079 more units than in March 2020.
