After years of declining trend, there has been these past four years a stabilisation of the production of municipal waste to 413 kg/inhabitant in 2018.
35 % of the 4,698,489 tonnes of waste collected in 2018 was recycled. 42 % was incinerated with energy recovery and 1 % without energy recovery. 20 % of collected waste was composted or fermented. The remaining 2 % went to landfill or was subject to some other form of treatment.
