2016: 8 % more new vehicles

In 2016, 654,605 new vehicles were registered, that is 8 % more than in 2015. This increase concern all categories, except for buses and coaches.

The number of new passenger car registrations increased by 7 % to 546,142. Among these, the number of diesel cars decreased by 6 %, compared to an increase of 27 % for cars with petrol engine. Furthermore, there are 19,054 registrations of passenger cars running wholly or partly on electricity (+56 %), while the number of cars running on natural gas has almost tripled (2,301 registrations: +195 %).

The second-hand market is somewhat declining with a decrease of 4 % of registrations both for passenger cars and all categories. 836,459 second-hand vehicles were registered in 2016, including 718,856 passenger cars.
