The number of births in Belgium fell quite sharply from 117,103 in 2019 to 113,739 in 2020 (-2.9%). There are differences between the regions: in Flanders, the number of births decreased the least last year, by 1.4%. In Wallonia, the decrease was 3.9%. The strongest decrease last year was observed in the Brussels-Capital Region with 6.0%.
