European Statistics Code of Practice

    The European Statistics Code of Practice is based on 15 principles relating to the institutional framework, the statistical production process and statistical output. For each principle, indicators provide an opportunity to assess the correct implementation of the Code of Practice.

    The quality dimensions of European statistics are included in the European statistics legislation The statistical authorities, consisting of the Commission (Eurostat), national statistical authorities and other statistical authorities responsible for the development, production and dissemination of European statistics, shall, together with governments, ministries and the European Council, commit to comply with the Code of Practice.

    The principles of the Code of Practice, together with the general principles of quality management, form a common quality framework for the European Statistical System.
